MANUFACTURING AUTOMATION
A two day National Workshop on Manufacturing Automation was organized during December 16-17, 2011 by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Jaypee University of Engineering and Technology, Raghogarh, Guna (M.P.). The workshop was co-sponsored by DST New Delhi, CSIR New Delhi, and MPCST Bhopal. The workshop was motivated by the growing national manpower needs to develop experts in the globally competitive domains of manufacturing, especially in various automation domain. It is important to provide a platform that promote useful role of design, planning and control decisions reflecting the flow of information and other entities in manufacturing automation. The Department of Mechanical Engineering, JUET, Guna has recognized these needs and is aiming to grow interdisciplinary areas of research and innovation to enhance the knowledge of people from industry and academics towards realistic challenges in the state of art areas.
Details of the topics covered were as follows:
- Flexibility issues in manufacturing systems in the evolving CIMS environment.
- General concepts of advanced manufacturing technologies like CAD/CAM, FMS, CIMS, Mechatronics, Robotics etc. were discussed.
- Participants were given live demonstration of CIM system for better understanding of the automation concepts.
Resource persons included two Vice Chancellors from Technical Universities and Professors from IITs and IIITDM. Faculty members and students from various reputed institutions like BITS Pillani, IIT BHU, MNIT Allahabad, SGSITS Indore as well as persons from industries like NFL Vijaypur and MTAB, Chennai participated in the workshop.
The management of JUET had given a whole hearted support to make Workshop a great success. The faculty, staff and students of Mechanical Engineering department, JUET rendered all assistance for the successful conduct of this Workshop.
