The National Symposium on “Recent Developments in Applicable Mathematics and Information technology” was organized along with Annual Conference of Vijnana Parishad of India at Jaypee Institute of Engineering and Technology, Guna from 4th Dec 09 to 6th Dec 2009. The conference was inaugurated on 4th Dec 09 by Prof. Piyush Trivedi, Vice Chancellor Rajeev Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Prof. N J Rao, Director JIET. Prof D S Hooda, Convener of the Conference, Dean Research welcomed the chief guest and delegates. The collection of abstracts of papers has been published in form of Souvenir and the Souvenir has been released by the chief guest of this auspicious occasion.   

Dr. Shishir Kumar, Organizing Secretary of the conference proposed the vote of thanks. The conference staged to discuss the themes of Recent Developments in Applicable Mathematics and Information Technology started with an exciting note of enthusiasm with presentation of key note address by Prof . R K Dutta on ICT and global warming. 

The Conference echoed a wide response with around 150 delegates traversing long distance from 16 states and three countries.

Three plenary lectures and eight invited talk sessions were organized in which eminent mathematicians and Information Technologist delivered very thought provoking lectures.

Prof. V P Saxena, Prof. R K Dutta, Prof. Durgesh Pant, Prof. P S Grover, Prof. G C Sharma and Prof. Bhudev Sharma delivered the plenary talks and in the process suggested some new fields of research which can be pursued by the young researchers attending the conference.

The conference also witnessed invited lectures by eminent speakers, each of them being names to reckon with in their respective fields of specialization. About 98 papers were presented in 6 contributory paper sessions of Applicable Mathematics and 12 contributory paper sessions of Information Technology/ CSE. 

To give a lighter mood to the otherwise jam-packed itinerary and back to back sessions, a colorful Kavi Sammelan  was organized in the evening of 4th Dec 09 under the patronage of Shri Jaipraksh Gaur Ji. The delegates and residents were entertained by the humors of Sri Surendra Sharma and his team. 

The Valedictory session of the conference and symposium was organized on 6th December, Dr. Y. Medury (Vice Chancellor, JUIT) had presided the function and Prof. G. C. Sharma (Presidents, VPI) was the chief guest. Dr. Shishir Kumar (Organizing Secretary) had presented the report & recommendation of the conference. Prof. D.S. Hooda (Convener) has delivered vote of thanks.
